DONGKAMUKAM, Dec 13: Chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Dr. Tuliram Ronghang launched a scathing attack on the Opposition and said that the previous KAAC governments had never given a thought of giving land pattas to the original settlers of the Rongkhang Reserve Forest area.
In a function held at Indiranagar, in West Karbi Anglong, altogether 3,414 land Pattas were ceremonially distributed among the settlers. On the occasion blankets, cooking utensils, etc. were also distributed in Bithung Rengthama Member of Autonomous Council (MAC).
“It’s a historic day for us and from today onwards Rongkhang Reserved Forest Land will not remain a reserve forest anymore. Your love for me has given me inner happiness,” said CEM Dr. Ronghang.
He further said that the present BJP government is responsive to the needs of the poor which is why NFSA cards, rights to education, rights to information, MNREGA, etc are being implemented. All muddy roads under Garo villages will be blacktopped soon.
President of BJP, BRMC, Tarjan Langthasa, MAC of KAAC, Chandra Br Chetry, chairman of Village Development Committee, Ramson Rongpi, chairman of Cooperation Board, Pranab Rongphar, secretary of ST Morcha, Assam Pradesh, Longsing Tokbi, ward commissioner, Serlongki Bey, senior citizens Porimol Sangma and John Sangma etc were present at the programme.
