ITANAGAR, Aug 22: Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission and Department of Rural Development Government of Arunachal Pradesh conducted a programme on convergence between Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG NREGA) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY NRLM) in Arunachal Pradesh.
The programme was inaugurated by Rinchin Tashi Secretary Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Department of Tirap, Changlang and Longding here at Pare Hall in the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre, Itanagar. The programme was graced by the presence of NyaliEte, Special Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, TabinSiga chief executive officer cum State Mission Director and K Dulom, Director Department of Rural Development Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The programme was also attended by Block Development Officers, Extension Officers and Officials incharge of MG NREGA MIS from the Resource Blocks (Phase 1 and Phase 2) under DAY NRLM, corresponding Block Mission Managers and State Mission Officials from ArSRLM.
Speaking on the occasion, Rinchin Tashi appreciated the hard work and dedication put in by ArSRLM officials at the block and State level, he also appreciated the pro-active response of Block Development officials who gathered for a novel initiative aimed at ensuring effective convergence of efforts between MG NREGA and DAY NRLM such that rural poor households are able to leverage the benefits from both programmes simultaneously for coming out of poverty in a time bound manner. He mentioned that convergence of efforts across all development programmes is important for Arunachal Pradesh. He said that while all the 29 subjects listed in the eleventh schedule have been devolved to PRIs in Arunachal Pradesh, convergence is the best method to address issues arising out of resource crunch across most of the development programmes.
Similarly it can ensure diversification of livelihoods, sustainable increase in incomes, all leading to poor households coming out of poverty in a time bound manner. He informed that Government of India is also emphasising on realigning the process of planning, implementation and monitoring of development programmes under the ambit of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in Arunachal Pradesh. He informed that State Government shall be keen to ensure that performance of Arunachal Pradesh is ranked amongst the best performing States in reference to development outcomes outlined by Government of India. He called upon all officials to adhere to concerned norms and keep an open mind for innovation, hard work and ensure that development goals are met.
