Protests mar polling in Arunachal; NPP demands re-poll in several polling stations of Koloriang

ITANAGAR, April 13: Supporters of National People’s Party (NPP), in hundreds, staged protest march and dharna in front of District Election Office (DEO), Koloriang demanding re-polling in several polling stations of 21 Koloriang assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh.

Supporters of NPP candidate demanded justice against alleged instances of booth capturing in several polling stations of Damin and Parsi Parlo circles of Koloriang assembly constituency on poll day April 11. They reiterated that many genuine voters were not allowed to cast their votes and some were even stopped from reaching the polling stations.

The supporters further added that despite they submitting a memorandum and appeal to the deputy commissioner cum district election officer with several proofs and physical appearance of the voters, the Election Commission or the DC are yet to take any action.

The supporters maintained that the complaints of booth capturing have already been submitted to all the concerned authorities against 23 Damin, 24 Taba, 28 Nampe and 30 Nyokuriang polling stations respectively.

When contacted Kurung Kumey SP confirmed that the protests and demand for re-poll by NPP supporters. However, despite several attempts to contact the district election officer Santosh Kumar Singh for a reaction on the entire incident, Singh was not available for the same.
