DIPHU, Sept 25: With only three days left for Durga Puja, an air of festivity has set in and along with it shopping fever has gripped Diphu town. And like every year, this year too carious decorated pandals have come up in Diphu. Brisk preparations are on in 60 puja pandals with puja committee engaging workers to complete the pandal in time to welcome the Goddess.
One such puja committee is the Diphu Bazaar Puja Committee which has put-up their pandal on the busy road in front of Diphu bazaar police outpost. The committee has been celebrating puja for thirteen years at the place.
Puja Committee president Ashok Das said like the previous years the budget is limited to Rs 5 lakh. Considering the financial condition of people with less cash circulating due to non-payment of bills to contractors and salaries to government employees and the budget could not be raised.
Though budget was Rs. 5 lakh, but till today the committee could collect only Rs. 1.50 lakh. However, 90 per cent of construction works of the pandal was now completed, he said.
