Guwahati, Aug 5: Governor Banwarilal Purohit and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal congratulated Vice-President-elect M. Venkaiah Naidu on his victory.
In a statement, Purohit said, “Election of M. Venkaiah Naidu to the post of the Vice President will augur well as he brings years of experience of public life along with him and is well respected across all political spectrum. Naidu in his different capacities is well connected with the people which would definitely help him to act prudently as the ex-officio chairman of the Rajya Sabha”.
Purohit also hoped that the competent leadership of Naidu and his administrative experience will be beneficial for the people as well as the country.
While congratulating Naidu, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal hoped that the country would immensely benefit from Naidu’s vast experience of public life and in-depth knowledge of parliamentary rules and regulations.
Saying that Naidu is widely respected across the political landscape and has relentlessly provided service to the society through strong advocacy of the rights of the weaker section of the society, Sonowal stated that the state and NE region would hope to find a strong voice in Naidu for highlighting the issues of the region at wider platform.
