HAFLONG, March 8: The indefinite railway blockade call given by North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students Forum (NCHISF) and North Cachar Hills Indigenous Women’s Forum (NCHIWF) continued for the second day forcing Northeast Frontier Railway authorities to suspend all trains through the hill section for the second day on Friday.
Both the organisations have demanded the railway authorities to release the compensation to more than 500 farmers for the land acquisitioned by the authorities for construction of Lumding-Badarpur BG Expansion Project.
The movement of trains in Dima Hasao district has been suspended due to the blockade. The trains passing over that area had to either be cancelled or short terminated, an NF Railway release informed here on Friday.
The 01665 Habibganj – Agartala Express which left Habibganj on March 6 will be short terminated at Guwahati and will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala, the 01666 Agartala – Habibganj Express scheduled to leave from Agartala on March 9 will originate from Guwahati on March 10 instead of Agartala as per time table timings.
The 12504 Agartala – Bangalore Humsafar Express scheduled to leave from Agartala on March 9 will originate from Kamakhya instead of Agartala as per timings, the 12507 Trivandrum – Silchar Aronai Express which left Trivandrum on March 5 will be short terminated at Lumding and will remain partially cancelled between Lumding and Silchar, the release said.
The 12508 Silchar – Trivandrum Aronai Express of March 7 has been further rescheduled to leave from Silchar at 9 am on March 9, the 14019 Agartala – Anand Vihar Express of March 7 has been further rescheduled to leave from Agartala at 9 am on March 9.
The 13176 Silchar – Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express of March 8 will originate from Lumding and will remain partially cancelled between Lumding and Silchar, the 55615 Guwahati – Silchar Fast passenger of March 8 has been cancelled, it added.
