HAFLONG, Aug 12: North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Debolal Gorlosa on Sunday denied that he was involved in the killing of two Congress leaders former CEM Purnendu Langthasa and EM Nindu Langthasa and said it is a conspiracy of opposition political parties against him ahead of the upcoming council elections.
The startling case of Gorlosa’s involvement in the killing of two Congress leaders came to the light after a former DHD (J) militant Miput Rajiyung alias Action Dimasa alias David Kemprai son of Dipon Raijung confessed in the court of the district and session judge that Gorlosa had paid Rs 50 lakh to the DHD(J) on April 27, 2007 for purchase of arms by the rebel outfit.
The 33-year-old Action Dimasa is a former rebel leader of the outfit who hails from Miyungpur Village (14 KM) under Umrangso Police Station of the hill district. His statement was recorded in the court of the district and sessions judge in connection with the case No 18/08 on July 27.
The former militant leader, who gave the statement in connection with the case No. 18/08 also confessed that Gorlosa was directly involved in the killing of the two Congress leaders, which took place on June 4, 2007.
“It is also a political conspiracy to defame BJP-led council by some leaders of parties in order to gain political mileage ahead of the elections as there is no other issue for the opposition parties to gain ground here. The opposition parties should not pressurise the court but let allow the law to take its own course,” he further said.
“I am ready to face any consequence if the law finds me guilty. I am fully confident that I am not involved in the case. I will resign from CEM chair if BJP party leaders ask me to vacate CEM Chair”, he added.
“The incident took place way back in 2007. Why they have been silent for the past 11 years,” Gorlosa said addressing a press conference at his official residence here on Sunday.
“Action Dimasa has given a wrong statement in the court. Action Dimasa had left DHD(J) since 11 years back and formed another militant group. He was also arrested for several occasions. After remaining silent for long 11 years, how can he give such statement,” Gorlosa questioned.
He accused AGP leader Zed Nunisa for his derogatory speech in media for which Gorlosa will file a defamation case against him and Dima Hasao District Congress Committee for printing his photo in poster calling for the bandh on Monday.
Meanwhile, Dima Hasao BJP president Nipolal Hojai claimed that the statement of Miput Rajiyung alias Action Dimasa is totally baseless without having any authenticity.
Hojai said that it is the conspiracy to defame the BJP ahead of the upcoming elections.
Dima Hasao BJP has submitted a memorandum to the Dima Hasao deputy commissioner to stop the 10-hour bandh call given by Dima Hasao District Congress Committee stating that that bandh culture is totally restricted by the Supreme Court and it will have an adverse impact on the economy of the hill district.
