Biswanath Chariali, April 25: Mohan Gogoi, a retired teacher of Nagsankar High School breathed his last on Sunday morning at his Gogoi Chook residence due to old age related ailments. He was 81.

Late Gogoi was an eminent stage actor, drama activist and was a sports organiser of the greater Nagsankar area under Biswanath.

He had acted in many known Assamese dramas including Siraj, Bhogjora, Moniram Dewan.

A bhaona actor Gogoi had played a pivotal role in formation of Nagsankar Sports Club.

He had joined as an assistant teacher at Nagsankar HS in the year 1969 and was superannuated in 1998. He was closely associated with Nagsankar Samabai Samittee, New Nagsankar PHC, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Nagsankar Drama Club, Dakhin Nagsankar HS, etc.

Many organisations and individuals including Nagsankar HSS, Alok, Nagsankar Samabai Samittee, Gogoi Chook Gaon Unnayan Samittee, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha among others paid floral tribute to the mortal remains in the morning. He leaves behind his wife, two sons, two daughters-in law, two daughters and a host of relatives.
