SHILLONG, Aug 18: In view of the upcoming by-election to 51-South Tura (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency, a review meeting on law-and-order and security arrangements was held at RDA Conference Hall in Tura on Saturday in the presence of general observer Benudhar Behera. The meeting was chaired by district election officer Ram Singh.

During the meeting, the inspector general of CRPF (Northeastern Sector), Prakash D informed that the by-election is keenly being watched by all and to be alert on group clashes, communication, intelligence, behaviour of men in uniform with regards to voters especially women and liquor consumption by men in uniform while on duty.

DIG, Western Range, O Passi, superintendent of police, West Garo Hills, Dr. M G R Kumar, additional deputy commissioner, West Garo Hills, AM Sangma, officers of CRPF, ITBP were among others present at the meeting.
