SHILLONG, Jan 1: Assam Rifles director general Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan inaugurated the newly renovated rhino heritage museum on Monday. Renovation of the Rhino Heritage Museum to its former glory was the vision of General Officer Commanding, 101 area,Lt Gen ds ahuja, who was also present in the function.
The newly renovated Rhino Heritage Museum will showcase the rich history of headquarters 101 area and its units. It will also provide viewers an insight towards the participation of headquarters 101 area in the 1971 Indo-Pak war which led to the birth of ‘Bangladesh’. The museum also has a dedicated corner for displaying the rich heritage, valour and courage of Assam Rifles.
Inauguration of the Rhino Heritage Museum included activities like unveiling of new statue of Field Marshal Sfhj Manekshaw, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, MC by director general of Assam Rifles and a bust of Major David Manlun by his parents. The ceremony also included paying homage to Captain Clifford Nongrum by his parents.
