KOKRAJHAR, July 16: At a time when formaline laced fish in Assam has been banned for ten days with effect from July 11, the prices of chicken have risen drastically in Kokrajhar markets.
Concerned over the rising prices of chicken, the citizens of Kokrajhar have demanded proper regulation on prices of items.
It is to be mentioned that, the prices of local chicken, broilers are touching sky heights since a couple of days. Presently, local chicken is sold at Rs. 350-380 per kg, broiler is at Rs. 180-220 per kg in Kokrajhar markets. In an average, Rs 40-50 have been hiked per kg in the markets.
Citizens and market going people said that the prices are higher than other markets. The state government should check the price hike of chicken as well other essential commodities, citizens demanded.
