Rongali Bihu celebrated at Bakalia

Bakalia, April 18: Amid a surge of Covid-19 cases in Assam, Rongali Bihu was celebrated on Sunday with a day long programme at Bakaliaghat Higher Secondary School playground.

This year, the organisers Bakaliaghat Sarbajanin Rongali Bihu Utsav Samiti have renamed the programme as preparation for its golden jubilee year.

The organisers also distributed face masks and sanitised the participants of the programme.

In the morning, Akon Hazarika unfurled the Bihu flag along with other community flags like Tiwa, Bengali, Marwari, Nepali, Bodo, Karbi, Dimasa, Koch-Rajbongshi, Adivasi, etc. to mark the programme.

Former principal of Bakaliaghat Higher Secondary School Atul Chandra Sarmah was invited as chief guest of the programme.

On this occasion various traditional games like Ghilakhel, Dhopkhel, Egg fight, Kalah Bhonga, forbear game (Dhoirja Pariksha), Musical chair and Rope pulling game were also held.
