TURA, March 3: Both the Sangma dynasties in Meghalaya have done well in retaining their fiefdoms in Meghalaya as has been reflected in the poll results so declared in the hill state of Meghalaya.
Chief minister Mukul Sangma, his wife Dikanchi D Shira, his brother Zenith Sangma have won the polls.
The chief minister won from Ampati and Sangsok with huge numbers. Dikanchi (Mahendragange) and Zenith (Rangshakona) won with comfortable margin.
However, Zenith’s wife, Sadhiarani M. Sangma lost to Saleng A. Sangma of NCP by 136 votes.
On the other hand members from late PA Sangma’s family including his son James K Sangma and his daughter and former Union minister Agatha Sangma have won election as candidate of National People’s Party (NPP).
