Gohpur, Sept 27: The students of Pachim Kuruati LPS School in Biswanath district are struggling to reach their school, located adjacent to the Dhiladhari river.
With no bridge available, the students are risking their lives. They are using big steel tubs to cross the river.
A video of the students crossing the river sitting in the tubs have now surfaced on the social media.
The river falls to the east of Sootea under Naduar revenue circle, Biswanath.
“The students sometimes use raft made from banana plants but during the monsoon, they use these vessels to cross the river. To avoid any untoward incident, we also travel along with them,” said a local teacher.
“We are fed up of the government’s lackadaisical attitude,” alleged the locals.
BJP MLA from Sootea constituency, Padma Hazarika said, “We are looking into the matter with the concerned MLA. Had it been a PWD road, it would long have been repaired by now. However, now through the Block Development Office, we are working towards construction of a bridge.”
