GUWAHATI, Sept 14: State Bank of India on Thursday donated a Toyota Innova vehicle to Krishna Kanta Handique Open University under their Corporate Social Responsibility scheme for running their study centres, spread all across the state of Assam as well as for various multipurpose use. The key of the vehicle was handed over by chief general manager, SBI NE circle, PVSLN Murty to vice chancellor, KK Handique Open University, Hitesh Deka in the presence of SBI general manager (Network-I), OP Mishra; SBI deputy general manager (Guwahati Module), Jogesh Ch. Sahu; SBI regional manager (Kamrup Metro), Hari Har Patnaik and other bank executives and university functionaries.
K K Handique Open University is the first and the only State Open University in the entire North Eastern Region. Since its inception in 2005, It is rendering sincere and dedicated services to the under privileged sections of the society through its 340 study centres across the state with a present enrolment of around 1,50,000 students. SBI has donated the vehicle to the University so that they can conveniently reach out to all those under privileged sections located at remote rural areas for counselling and distribution of study materials.
