GUWAHATI, March 15: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that thoughts motivated by science and technology have the potential to bolster change. Development sans science and technology is not permanent. If the students need to go forward they need to take the help of science and technology as their launch pad.
Dedicating an equipment ‘Sciences on a Sphere’ to the service of the people at a function held at Regional Science Centre in Guwahati on Thursday, chief minister Sonowal said that the extensive use of science and technology help the students to go forward successfully in pursuit of knowledge. He said, “We need to take concerted efforts to popularise science and technology among the young minds and help them to adopt new concept of science and technology based on participatory approach”.
Sonowal said, “Science should empower younger generation and help them to use science and technology to flourish their lives”. He also emphasised on adopting progressive attitude to keep the pace of the society in tandem with developed countries.
It may be noted that Regional Science Centre has become the first centre in Northeast to have ‘Sciences on a sphere’ and the inauguration of the equipment would help the society to go forward towards scientific advancement. He also called upon the students to take advantage of the new instrument to garner more knowledge about the hidden facts of the universe.
Science and technology minister Keshab Mahanta, additional chief secretary science and technology VS Bhaskar and host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
