Kokrajhar, Nov 2: Various organisations have protested and condemned the Dhola incident in Tinsukia district which had claimed five innocent persons late night.
Unidentified armed persons fired indiscriminately targeting innocent persons of a particular community at Dhola on Thursday evening which had brought condemnation from various quarters. Several organisations demanded early identification and arrest of culprits involved in the incident.
Assam Bengali Youth Students Federation protested against the Dhola incident and demanded strong inquiry into incident. The federation staged a protest dharna and burnt effigies of ULFA leader Mrinal Hazarika, Jiten Dutta and ULFA-I leader Paresh Baruah in Kokrajhar town.
Chief adviser of BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation, Shyamal Sarkar and president Montu Dey strongly condemned the brutally killing at Dhola in Tinsukia diatrict. They demanded early arrest of involved culprits and punishment. The student body demanded NIA probe into the incident.
The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) expressed shock and condemned the incident. Such brutality by the suspected ULFA (I) is very inhuman and ABSU strongly condemn such violent act over the innocent civilians. Violence or killing cannot be the mechanism to refrain the policy of the government over any issue in the state. The violence will only bring only hate and destruction to peace, the union said.
Former Rajya Sabha and UPPL president Urkhao Gwra Brahma condemned the massacre and said the gruesome killing of five peoples at Dhola, Tinisukia is outcome of political insensitivity from the side of government.
“At this stage the centre should come forward to help state security forces to ensure safety and security of lives and properties of the people. At the same people in general should maintain restrains so that situation doesn’t get aggravated more,” Brahma said.
Meanwhile, Kokrajhar district administration has organised a peace meeting at DC office to maintain peace and tranquillity among all sections of society after Dhola massacre in Tinsukia district.
Various organisation and parties, including ABSU, AASU, ABMSU, Nath Yogi Students Union, BTC Bengali Youth Students Union, Bodo sahitya sabha, Congress, senior citizens participated in the meeting.
The meeting strongly condemned the Dhola incident.
