DIPHU, Nov 21: Social organisations of Karbi Anglong have expressed its dissatisfaction over the shifting of venue for document verification, skill and language test of grade III (non-technical) and grade IV posts of Diphu Medical College from Diphu to Guwahati through government notification and demanded that 90 percent of the posts should be given to local candidates as assured by health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The schedule for the test for grade III (non-technical) is on November 22 and 23 and for Grade IV is on November 24, 25 and 26.
Principal-cum-chief superintendent of Diphu Medical College & Hospital though its corrigendum notice vide No. SMED/AHMC&RI/21/2017/3051, dated 18/11/2019 stated that the venue for document verification, skill and language test of grade III (non-technical) and grade IV posts of Diphu Medical College has been changed. The test will now be held at ‘Office of the director of medical education at Six Mile in Guwahati’ instead of Diphu.
Addressing a joint press conference here on Thursday, KSA president Bijoy Bey said, “We are not satisfied with the shifting of venue for the test to be conducted for grade III and grade IV candidates. It is nothing but the ultimate transfer of powers from Karbi Anglong to Dispur”.
“We demand that 90 percent of the posts in grade III and IV should be given to local candidates from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his last visit to Diphu, we (KSA and other social organisations) have submitted a memorandum demanding 90 percent reservation for local candidates.
In presence of CEM Tuliram Ronghang and other dignitaries Dr. Sarma has assured us that it will be done. If the state government fails to fulfil commitment to the people, the KSA and other social organisation will be bound to protest strongly over it.”
Karbi Unemployed Youth Association (KUYA) president Marlov Timung mentioned that of the 364 cleared the written test for grade III and out of this 120 are from Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The posts in grade III are 87. While in grade IV there are 21 posts and 908 candidates have cleared the written test out of which 200 are from from Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
Karbi National Assembly, Karbi Students & Youth Council and Karbi Farmers Association (Tingku Ingti) were present at the press conference.
