DIPHU, Dec 14: Two social organisations on Friday demanded a probe into massive adulteration of diesel with kerosene by local vendor, Karbi Service Station Petrol Pump here.
In a memorandum to Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner Mukul Kumar Saikia, Karbi Farmers Association (KFA) president Rajesh Tisso, United Karbi Students Association (UKSA) president Ratan Terang have alleged adulteration was found in the diesel purchased from Karbi Service Station Petrol Pump meant for mobile towers.
There was high content of kerosene in it, they alleged.
Rupdhon Hanse, who is a technician working in Jio-Reliance mobile towers, said, “For a long time we are purchasing diesel for use in generators for running towers of Jio during load shedding from Karbi Service Station. We have sensed the content of high amount of kerosene in diesel and have made several complaints to the manager for it.”
The alleged adulterated diesel of 200 litres was being taken to a Jio mobile service tower Dok Terang Village near Assam University Diphu Campus.
For a long time Karbi Service Station has been doing this and an enquiry needs to be conducted, they said in the memorandum.
On the other hand the manger of Karbi Service Station, BK Chaudhury said that according to the guideline of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) the density of diesel should be between 800 to 900 Hydro Metre Point. “The density of diesel at Karbi Service Station is 832 point and it is genuine,” he added.
