DIPHU, July 21: Solangdo, an Assamese daily published from Diphu celebrated the completion of 15 years at Rangsina Sarpo Cultural Hall in Loruangso here on Wednesday.
On the occasion selected editorials of the Solangdo daily compiled by the editor Borsing Rongphar, titled ‘Nirbasita Sampadokiya’, were released by MAC D Uphiang Maslai.
Addressing the function, Maslai said, “Digital media is very fast and people get information about various issues through social media within a short span of time, but the importance of print media cannot be ignored. The various reports and information printed in newspapers are preserved and only in newspapers one can search for important past records.”
Maslai appreciated the work of Borsing Rongphar in keeping the daily alive for so long as it is not an easy task.
The programme was presided over by compiler Pabitra Bora and attended by Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) assistant secretary Joysing Tokbi, social worker, Longsing Tokbi, editor of The Hills Times, Rameswar Chauhan, editor of The Arleng Daily, TP Hanse and senior journalist Sonju Bora.
