GUWAHATI, Aug 5: President Ram Nath Kovind is likely to visit Assam and North East sometime in October-November. Kovind disclosed to Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal during a 30-minute long discussion at at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
Exchanging pleasantries with Kovind, Sonowal presented him with an eri chador, cheleng and a gamocha. Referring to the Presidential Retreats which are located at Mashobra in Shimla and Bolarum in Hyderabad, Sonowal requested Kovind for setting up of a similar retreat in the North Eastern part of the country.
“A Presidential Retreat in North East besides the existing ones in North and South would symbolise the unity of the country besides signifying the unity of our diverse cultures and people of the country,” he added.
Kovind appreciated Sonowal for conceiving the idea of a Presidential Retreat in the North Eastern region and assured to look into the matter in right earnest.
