GUWAHATI, Aug 16: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday called up his Mizoram counterpart Lal Thanhawla and discussed about the harassment faced by traders from Assam in Lunglei district of Mizoram.

Notably, some local organisation members forcibly shut down several shops being run by non-Mizos at Lunglei in the last week. The affected traders are mainly from Assam and other states who have been doing business there from long time. The local organisation members also assaulted the traders, when they complained about not being allowed to open their shops.

During the telephonic conversation, Sonowal urged Lal Thanhawla to take measures for the safety and security of the traders from the state and protect their businesses from being vandalised. The Mizoram chief minister assured of all help in this regard.
