Mrityunjoy’ employee, doctor, nurse test positive** Total lockdown in Kamrup Metro from today
GUWAHATI, June 27: With the report of 273 fresh cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has jumped to 6,919 on Saturday evening.
Of 273 fresh cases, 203 cases have been reported from Guwahati city, which will go for total lockdown from Sunday midnight for 14 days.
The state has not 2,092 active positive cases after discharge of 4,814 patients.
According to a bulletin of National Health Mission (NHM), a total of 3,74,519 samples have been tested in 12 laboratories of the state till Saturday.
On Saturday, 10,806 samples have been tested. 28,574 have been placed under institutional quarantine at various quarantine facilities, while 1,26,861 have been under home quarantine.
The number of positive cases without travel history in the capital city Guwahati has gone upto 880.
On Friday night, 203 positive cases were detected in the city.
Fearing community infection, the state government has imposed 14-day total lockdown in the city from June 28 to July 12.
The total lockdown will come into force in all the areas under Kamrup Metro district.
An employee of the ‘108 Mrityunjoy’ ambulance service has tested positive for COVID-19. He has been identified as Moyejuddin, a member of the Emergency Response Office (ERO) in GVK EMRI’s head office at Lokhra in Guwahati. This is the first case of an ambulance worker fighting the pandemic in the state.
567 more patients have been discharged on Saturday. With this the state has touched the recovery rate of 69.57 percent.
As a part of its move to ensure best possible treatment to COVID-19 patients, a quarantine centre is being converted into a 250-bed Covid Hospital at Patanjali Yogpeeth, Mirza, Palashbari.
On Saturday state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the centre along with senior health officials to review all the arrangements to develop it as a COVID-19 hospital.
In Nagaoan district a physician and a nurse of Haiborgaon based GD Nursing Home tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
The physician Dr KK Doley and nurse Midusmita Das have been shifted to hospital.
Meanwhile, a positive patient created a panicky situation at Kushal Nagar by violating quarantine norms.
One Naresh Singh who has been placed under quarantine at his brother-in-low’s house at Kushal Nagar, violated the rules and wandered in and around the entire area.
A health worker noticed him walking in the area and intercepted him with the help of locals and informed Haiborgaon police as well as district medical surveillance team.
Later, he was brought to Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phookonani Civil Hospital by 108 ambulance service.
56 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaon on Saturday taking the total number of positive cases to 571.
On the other hand, 192 positive patients have been discharged till Friday from Nagaon BP Civil Hospital while 45 patients from Kandali Model Hospital, 34 from Mowamari Model Hospital and 67 patients have been discharged from Ujaragaon Model Hospital.
Now, 93 positive patients have been undergoing treatment in Nagaon Civil Hospital, 29 in Kandali Model Hospital and 32 patients have been undergoing treatment in Mowamari Model Hospital.
15 more fresh COVID-19 novel coronavirus cases have been detected in Hailakandi on Saturday, taking the total tally to 260.

116 patients have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. There are 127 active cases, as per health bulletin released on Friday evening.
