DIPHU, Sept 9: Hills Area Development (HAD) minister Sum Ronghang on Sunday visited flood-affected Borlangfer areas in Karbi Anglong, where flash flood claimed one life on September 6, last.
Ronghang took the stock of the situation and reviewed the loss and damages in the flood.
The minister was accompanied by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) EM and East Karbi Anglong BJP president Ratan Terang, additional deputy commissioner, circle officer of Diphu Revenue circle and other senior officials of the district administration.
Ronghang assured the affected people that the government would provide all possible help to them.
He also requested the officials of revenue department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to assess the loss and damage of property and livestock and provide necessary assistance to the affected people.
Flash floods damaged more than 50 houses in the area apart from washing away livestock and other properties of the villagers.
A wooden bridge over Borlangpher River near Borlangpher market has also been washed away by the flood waters.
One person identified as Sankdar Das drowned dire to strong current of the river. His body was recovered on the next day.
