DIPHU/ HAFLONG, Sept 15: Along with rest of the country, the nation-wide sanitation campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” was launched in Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts on Saturday.
Karbi Anglong deputy commission Mridul Kr. Mahanta launched the mission by lighting the lamp at a function held at Diphu Govt. Boys HS School here.
The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) deputy secretary Pratima Barman, executive engineer, Diphu PHE Rural Division, Bimal Ch. Sarma, nodal officer of Swachh Bharat Abhijan (SBM) Morning Keey Phangcho and vice principal of Diphu Govt. Boys HS School Hilary Terang were also present in the function.
In his address, Mahanta elaborated the importance of launching Swachhata Hi Seva for a clean India. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched SBM for polythene-free and clean India commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.
SBM nodal officer Morning Keey Phangcho explained the key objectives of the mission.
A plantation drive was also taken out on to mark the occasion. As part of Swachhata Hi Seva, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang inaugurated a water supply scheme under Howraghat PHE Division in Dengaon. KAAC deputy chairman Ritesh Enghi was also present on the occasion.
EM for PHE Pradip Rongpi inaugurated Thoiso Timung Water Supply Scheme under Howraghat PHE Division in the presence of MAC Lunsing Teron and KAAC secretary Si-im Taro.
In West Karbi Anglong, MLA Dr. Mansing Rongpi inaugurated Edenbari Water Supply Scheme under Hamren PHE Division. He also launched Swachhata Hi Seva here.
The Swaacchta Hi Seva Mission was launched in Haflong by MLA BB Hagjer. On the occasion, a cleanliness drive was taken up in Haflong Civil Hospital campus and different part of Haflong town. The cleanliness drive was participated by MLA BB Hagjer, EMs and representatives of various organisations.
