GUWAHATI, Sept 14: ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’, by abiding to this Mantra, Indian Railways has launched a cleanliness drive programme from September 15 to October 2 to clean all its Railway surroundings, premises, station premises and other premises under the jurisdiction of Railways. On this occasion NF Railway, Construction organisation also organised a mass ‘Swachhta Pledge’ on Saturday as part of ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ a fortnight campaign in main administration building to highlight the present swachhta campaign being undertaken in the country. The aim of the Swachh Bharat Mission is to achieve a clean and open defecation free India. The objectives are generating demand for toilets leading to their construction and sustained use by all household members, promoting better hygiene behaviour amongst the population and improving cleanliness. The Sawchhta Hi Seva campaign seeks to mobilise people to come out and get directly involved with the Swachh Bharat Mission by offering shramdaan for swachhta in the fortnight leading upto Gandhi Jayanti.
