Guwahati, Sept 4: Teachers’ Day, to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan will be celebrated all across the state on Tuesday. The central function will be held at Ravindra Bhawan from 2 pm, where industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary will address as the chief guest.
Surprisingly, both chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will not attend this year’s Teacher’s Day function as both of them are in New Delhi for an emergency meeting of North East Development Agency (NEDA).
Governor Banwarilal Purohit greeted the teaching fraternity on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. In a message, Purohit said, “As a mark of tribute to the great contributions by the teachers to our society we celebrate Teachers’ Day. Since we commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Teachers’ Day, we should all pay our reverence to Dr. Radhakrishnan and work to emulate his ideals for building a society of his dreams”.
