DIPHU, Aug 6: In a bid to review the progress of various developmental programmes the ‘Team Karbi Anglong’ will visit each Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency from August 17 which will begin from Mahamaya MAC constituency, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang announced here on Monday.
Ronghang was addressing a tractor distribution ceremony for SHGs, Pathar Parisalana Samiti (PPS) and individuals here on Monday.
“Team Karbi Anglong will visit remote areas. On August 17 the Team Karbi Anglong comprising of all EMs, MACs, principal secretary, secretaries and head of all departments will start visiting each constituency from Mahamaya to know the people’s grievances,” Ronghang said.
“We will go to places where there is no electricity or road communication, where the schools have no buildings and education facilities. We will sit down with the people and discuss their problems. There are some places in Singhason MAC constituency, where even the three time MAC Pradip Singnar and now EM Amarsing Tisso have never visited. There are places in Chinthong where the four time MAC and EM Pradip Rongpi has never reached,” Ronghang also said.
Altogether 363 SHGs, PPS and individuals have received tractors at sub-subsidised rate under Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) from agriculture department in the programme.
In his address, HAD minister Sum Ronghang stressed on submission of utilisation certificates (UCs) by various departments under the council for receipt of Central funds for development of the areas.
The minister said the fund will be released to the council on time after submission of utilization certificates (UCs) by the department.
“There are media reports that funds were not released till the first half of the financial year. The first half is from April 1 to September 30 and second half is from October 1 to March 31. The fund for the first half was released late to KAAC in July. But there was problem in producing UC due to short period. Now funds will be released depending on the performance of works. The department which can submit UC will get funds accordingly,” the minister also said.
He also said that there are departments which failed to submit UC on the work implemented due to which funds are not released.
The minister further said there is only one office of mines and minerals and it will be expanded to every district, including in Karbi Anglong. Discussion was held for creation of new office and posts for district offices. He pointed at revenue department in Karbi Anglong to poor performance saying it need do more. The department is still not sure about the numbers of revenue villages in the district. The settlement branch has no data on the exact number of revenue villages.
The function was attended by EM for agriculture, Amarsing Tisso, EMs, MACs and principal secretary Mahadananda Hazarika.
