Torch rally taken out in Namrup

NAMRUP, Nov 13: A torch rally was taken out by Namrup unit of All Assam Students Union (AASU) at 6 pm on Monday in protest against the Centre’s alleged move to compromise Assam’s territory with Nagalim. AASU, Dibrugarh district and the people of Namrup from Sonari Tiniali took active part in the rally.

Speaking at the rally, AASU district president Shankar Boruah said, “The condition that our chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has done to our state is very heart breaking and we regret that the central Government have not acted in this regard. If this case occurs again and again then it will lead to a huge protest.” AASU district vice president Jayanta Dowarah, AASU district secretary Shankar Jyoti Boruah, AASU district education secretary Abani Gogoi, Namrup AASU secretary Manash Jyoti Changmai, Namrup AASU president Kalpajit Gogoi and many other organisations joined the protest along with 500 other protestors.
