DIPHU, Feb 16: Various competitions on modern and traditional songs and dances marked the second day of the 45th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) organised by Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) at Taralangso here on Saturday.
The festival was inaugurated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang in the presence of leaders of all political parties and representatives of civil society groups on Friday.
On Saturday, competitions on traditional sports like Kengdongdang pen kekat (running with bamboo stilt) and hambi kepathu for men and husking of paddy for women were organised. The competition was inaugurated by executive member (EM) Ratan Teron.
Competition on chengpi kethip (beating of traditional drums) and chong kachingnang (swords dance) were also organised on the occasion.
Competition on traditional songs – Bongoi alun, traditional music blowing of muritongpo, traditional dance Ritnong chingdi (cultivating dance), modern one act play, group dance and quiz competition were also organised on the second day of the festival.
