DOLAMORA, Dec 18: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang inaugurated Basapi Teronpi Memorial Open Stage at Sokphe-eh Aklam, Lokhimon Ashram near BR Tokbi village, No. 2 Dolamora under Duarbagori member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency on Tuesday.
The open stage was constructed by the department of works at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh.
“I am very delighted to see your discipline despite incessant rainfall. The separate dresses to distinguish married and unmarried, men and women, priests and devotees show discipline. I have attended church and participated in other places of worship but I have not seen such unity. I love the religion and want to accept the religion,” Ronghang said in his address.
The CEM informed that the Assam finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had consented to be present but due to inclement weather he could not come. The CEM promised potable water and construction of entrance gate and boundary wall at Lokhimon Ashram. He promised Rs 20 lakh for construction of ME school building and Rs 8 lakh for from the tourism department for steps at Sokphe-eh hill.
The programme was attended by EMs Jagatsing Engti, Amarsing Tisso and Lunsing Teron and MACs Ramsing Timing and Richard Tokbi and Lokhimon Sangha president Dhonsing Terang.
