Pension of MAC, salaries of Karbi language teachers hiked
DIPHU, Feb 20: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang has placed the deficit budget of the inherent subject leading to a deficit of Rs. 11905.50 lakh.
The total estimated expenditure is proposed at Rs. 27683.50 lakh (including HUDCO share of Rs. 4000 lakh) against total estimated receipt of Rs. 15778.00 lakh (excluding HUDCO share of Rs. 4000 lakh aprrox).
In his budget speech, the CEM mentioned that KAAC is derived of revenue from forest products, entry tax, professional tax, trade and employment, land revenue, share of motor vehicle tax and etc.
The CEM also mentioned that revenue receipt under KAAC is poor due to the ban imposed by Supreme Court on exploiting the forest. In order to meet the huge depleted revenue receipt the rate and fees imposed on various subjects like trading licensee fee, transfer fee on land transaction and other trades and callings have been marginally increase.
The CEM also said KAAC is expected to receive the administrative charge and share of motor vehicle tax of Rs. 6000 lakh approx.
The CEM also said the KAAC budget is prepared with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 27683.50 lakh for 2021-2022 fiscal. The expected revenue receipts are council’s own source of Rs. 11028.00 lakh and grant-in-aid from state government and administrative charge etc. Rs. 4750.00 lakh.
The CEM informed media persons that this year an increase of 10 percent has been proposed which means Rs. 10,500 crore including salaries has been increased.
The pension of MAC and the salaries of Karbi Language Teachers have been increased to Rs. 15,000. The present salary of KLT is Rs. 5,000. Rs. 40 lakh budget provision has been made for Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) and Rs. 100 lakh for Karbi Youth Festival. Budget provision of Rs. 560 lakh has been made for insurance for Karbi writers and journalists.
