Bokajan, June 23: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Friday said new Scorpio cars and armed security guards will be provided to all MACs for visiting various infrastructure projects in their respective constituencies.
“All EMs and MACs have equal power and can work independently without any interference. All 26 representatives would receive Rs 10 crore each for development of their constituencies,” Ronghang said addressing a Vikash Utsav Rally organised by East Karbi Anglong BJP at Hangjanglangso on Friday. The rally was collectively held for four MAC Constituencies, including Bokajan, Borjan, Sarupathar and Deopani.
However, the political observers say the move of the CEM might contradicts the pre-poll manifesto of BJP for ending VIP culture and cutting down personal security and other allowances by 90%.
Ronghang reiterated that the BJP-led government is committed to usher in development in Karbi Anglong and make it a no 1 district of the state.
“Karbi Anglong will prosper under BJP. Development in Karbi Anglong has gained momentum in the past one year ever since BJP came to power at KAAC,” the CEM said.
The programmed concluded with the CEM distributing a handful of mosquito nets and a dozen duck to various self-help groups in the area.
MLA Dr Numal Momin also graced the occasion. The programme was also attended by a host of other dignitaries including KAAC principal secretary Mahananda Hazarika, former chairman Horensing Bey, EMs Madhujya Dhekial Phukan, Jagat Sing Ingti, MACs Mukut Mahanta, Lonki Timing, Prabitra Rongpi and officials of the council.
