DIPHU, June 21: The 4th International Yoga Day was celebrated in various parts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao on Thursday.
The district administration has organised the main programme in collaboration with District Health Society at Joysing Doloi Memorial Auditorium here. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, EMs Pradip Rongpi and Kache Rongpipi, Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner Mridul Kr. Mahanta and joint director of health services, Dr. Kareng Rongpipi along with other senior officials took part in the programme.
Inaugurating the programme, CEM Ronghang said “Yoga is essential for keeping the mind, body and soul at balance. The worldwide popularization of Yoga is important. It should be practiced by everyone as it gives stability to one’s body, mind and soul.”
Ronghang along with his wife Kache Teronpi took part in hour-long Yoga session under the instruction of Vishnu Prakash, The Art of Living Officials of Red Horns Division, CRPF also took part in the programme.
A programme was organised by East Karbi Anglong BJP at at Diphu Club here, which was attended by EM Ratan Teron and EM Jagatsing Engti along with leaders and workers of the party.
The Field Outreach Bureau of Bureau of Outreach and Communication under ministry of information & broadcasting observed International Yoga Day with a programme at Mohongdijua ME and High School premises. More than 100 students participated in the programme. In the programme, field publicity officer Angshuman Malakar elaborated on importance of Yoga.
The second session Yoga was held at Mohongdijua Cultural Hall with 70 students. In the event, headmaster, Mohendijua ME School, Hiranya kumar Bora, SMC president Hariman Barman, field publicity assistant Krishna Chetia, social worker Alit Chandra Hasnu and headmaster of Mohongdijua LP School, Burasing Bey and certified yoga instructor Arup Naiding were present at the programme.
The day was also celebrated by Karbi Anglong Nehru Yuva Kendra ((NYK) and Hanjanglangso Youth Club at its office premises. Yoga session was held from 6 am under the instruction of Longbir Engti, Art of Living, Diphu.
Principal of Lake View School, Longdili Terang, headmaster of Hanjanglangso ME School, Rina Terangpi, joint secretary., Bokajan Press Club, Anand Terang and Bokajan NYK member Dhoniram Singnar participated in the session.
International Yoga Day was also observed at different places of West Karbi Anglong district. On the occasion, Troops of Red Horns Division organised a programme at the designated camp of Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (ceasefire) (KPLT) Kollonga in collaboration with Assam Police.
In Howraghat, the day was observed by Howraghat Block Primary in association with Ayush Mission, Assam.
The Day was celebrated by Red River Club at Paklongkam ME School premises. Yoga instructor Bina Rongpipi conducted the Yoga session. Club president Robinson Rongpi, VDC chairman of Mahamaya Longsing Tokbi and others participated. Paramilitary personnel of CRPF Group Centre, Khatkhati has also observed the day with the participation of all posted officers. On the occasion DIG, Range Khatkhati, Darbara Singh Bains and DIG, Group Centre, Khatkhati, brief the participants on the benefits of yoga.
The fourth international yoga day was celebrated at various places of Dima Hasao along with the rest of the world on Thursday. The district administration centrally organised a Yoga programme at NL Daulagupu sports complex in Haflong.
Addressing the gathering of around 300 people, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) chief executive member Debolal Gorlosa said that yoga exercise is a blessing given to mankind which is gaining momentum around the globe.
