Two-day session on SDG-6 held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Aug 7: A two days session of “Training and Monitoring Action Plan on Sustainable Development Goal-6” in PHED Department, Assam was successfully held in Guwahati. The training programme was conducted by Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO), PHED, Assam and it is supported by the UNICEF, Assam.

The two days programme is basically focused on sustainable Development Goal-6 by the year 2030 which is emphasised on a series of programmes.

This two days programme was attended by all the Divisional Engineers, Superintendent Engineers and Additional Chief Engineers of PHE Department which is addressed by Resource persons from NIC, UNICEF officials, Assam Administrative Staff Collage, Senior Officers from Finance Department,  Departmental experts and also addressed by the Secretaries and Chief Engineer of PHED, Assam. Further, this august gathering is addressed by Parameshwaran Iyer, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, New Delhi, who emphasised on implementation of NRDWP schemes and SBM programmes successfully in the field.

The training programme was followed by a review meeting by PHED minister Rihan Daimari on the progress of each division in Assam in presence of the secretary and Chief Engineer of the department.

Finally, the meeting ended with Vote of thanks from the CE (PHE), Assam from the chair.

It is expected that the participants of the training programme will be greatly benefited and enlighten by this two days session and this will provide long time impact in the field of Water Supply and Rural Sanitation in the State of Assam.
