DIBRUGARH, April 27: Two new oxygen generation plants will be officially made functional at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh from Wednesday.

“Each of the oxygen generation plants will produce oxygen gas equivalent to 100 numbers of jumbo cylinders. The two new plants will generate oxygen equivalent to 200 jumbo cylinders,” informed an official of AMCH.

The daily consumption of AMCH equivalent to 120 to 140 jumbo cylinders will be directly supplied to patients through pipeline.

The rest of oxygen equivalent to 60-70 jumbo cylinders will be kept on reserve in case of increase in demand at AMCH.

However, owing to the shortage of oxygen cylinders in the country and Assam, the government has taken the initiative to produce oxygen in every district to meet up the demand.

The AMCH authority said that the construction of the oxygen plants was started in October, 2020. The plants came into operation on January 1 this year.
