SILCHAR, Aug 5: In an appeal circulated in the social media on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner, Jalli urged the people to come forward voluntarily to get their swab tested to prevent community transmission of the disease. Jalli said mobile teams of doctors and health functionaries would fan out across the district from Bashkandi to Udharbond to collect swab samples in prominent market places and requested the people to get their swab tested to prevent community transmission.
Urging people to extend cooperation to the doctors and health personnel and not create hurdles ‘as they are working during trying times’, Jalli said, “Do not panic. Get yourself tested. You will get results in 15 minutes through RAT. More detection of cases is good, as keeping someone under isolation will help in containing community transmission of the disease.” The Deputy Commissioner said that home treatment of COVID-19 positive case is available and that the administration will consider it in right earnest.
Meanwhile, many resident associations are coming forward encouraging their wards to continue their treatment within the individuals’ home premises. “We welcome and applaud such civic responsibility shown by citizens. We request the resident associations to support us further by ensuring nobody breaks out of COVID containment rules of his house once he or she turns positive. I also request local GP president and secretaries to facilitate with fetching of some items that are desired by the family under home isolation,” said Jalli.
The district administration said that in order to make the process transparent and easier, the persons opting for ‘home treatment’ provision has to be asymptomatic; have means of self-monitoring through oximeter/thermometer; having separate room with attached toilet; no senior citizen with co-morbidities; neighbours undertaking in this regard; arrangements for a private doctor for monitoring and arrangements for a private vehicle for shifting to a nearest hospital, if need arises.
“Applications for home quarantine may be sent to IDSP team if all of the above conditions are met, with a signed undertaking that all COVID containment protocols will be strictly followed by the individual,” said an official of the administration.
