DIPHU, Sept 2: The free training cum workshop on kacharhe (Karbi traditional professional mourning song) organised by cultural affairs department in collaboration with Rasinja Asong concluded here on Saturday. On the concluding day, a function was organised to give away certificates to the participants.
The training cum workshop on kacharhe was held before the KAAC election, but due to some reasons the concluding ceremony was not organised. The training programme was attended by more than 30 women.
The function was attended by EM for fisheries and art & culture, Rupsing Teron. In his speech, EM Teron said it is the duty of every person to promote the language and culture of the community. The kacharhe is now known to only a few women.
Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) president Chandrasing Kro and KAAC joint secretary Dhaneswar Engti and others also attended the closing function.
