GUWAHATI, Oct 4: On the occasion of World Wildlife Week, the Department of Zoology, Assam Don Bosco University in collaboration with ECO Club, ADBU celebrated World Animal Day at Tepesia campus of the University on Friday.
This day was observed in order to call for an action for various causes related to animals including their rights and welfare. Fr (Dr) Stephen Marvley, Vice Chancellor; Professor J N Vishwakarma, Director School of life science; Dr. Monmoyuri Baruah, School of Fundamental and Applied Science; Dr. Riju Sharma, Director of Humanities and Social Science graced the programme.
While addressing the gathering, Fr. Stephen Mavely, highlighted the about the responsibilities we are entrusted with in preserving the natural creation.
He mentioned in his speech about the film that was released in 1972 named “the brother sun and sister moon” that was an epitome of his experience. As per the event, a debate competition on “Is scientific specimen collection a barrier to conservation” was also organised which was followed by an extempore speech, brain teaser, wildlife documentary screening.
