‘Killing innocent people will not result in anything fruitful. Fear cannot build a nation’
GUWAHATI, May 20: Days after ULFA-I C-in-C Paresh Barua claimed responsibility of the grenade blast that took place in front of Guwahati Central on RG Baruah Road, singer Zubeen Garg slammed the militant leader through a long post in Facebook.
The singer-actor-film producer, known for speaking out on several social issues, in a Facebook post said fear cannot build a nation and only labour and hard work can.
“To ULFA, I need a revolution. I need a revolution of change. Killing innocent people will not result in anything fruitful. Fear cannot build a nation. Labour can. Hard work can,” Zubeen said in the post that has been shared over 2,200 times.
He said terrorism can never give meaning to the rights that the outfit led by Paresh Baruah was fighting for.
“Education can. Development can. Progress can.”
“Teach our kids how to cultivate. Teach them how to grow seeds out of nothing. Teach them how to shape their dreams,” the singer of many Bollywood hits wrote.
Zubeen said if the group wants to build something, they can build Majuli, the district affected by erosion, and if they want to destroy something, they can destroy the threats roaming over Kaziranga.
“I need a revolution to fight back against flood. I need a revolution that will make us part of the mainstream,” he added.
The singer openly condemned ULFA-I through his post on Face Book. By asking the militant outfit to stop all activities of terrorism, Zubeen advised them to shape the dreams of the future people of the state through education and development.
He also advised ULFA to stop bloodshed by killing innocent people of the state and suggested that they can fight to destroy the threats roaming over Kaziranga.
Zubeen also urged ULFA-I that if they had the wish to build something, they can build Majuli.
He also advised them to bring a solution to fight against the problems of flood in Assam.
As a messenger of peace, he also asked ULFA to imagine a nation that is devoid of people.
He also told ULFA that every person wants peace and they can bring change only through education and not by creating fear among people through their activities of terrorism.
It may be mentioned that police have already arrested Jahnabi Saikia, a little known TV actor along with her associate, pro-talk ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru from a rented house in city’s Panjabari area in connection with the grenade blast in Guwahati.
Police officials said based on their confession, police have also arrested three other persons in connection with the blast.
While Pranamoy and Jahnabi were arrested on Wednesday, three others—Chinmoy Laskar, Indra Mohan Bora and Amit Ballav Goswami were arrested on Friday.
Former ULFA rebel Amit, who according to police is a bomb expert, was arrested from Golaghat while Chinmoy and Indra were apprehended from Guwahati and Nagaon respectively.
According to police, Chinmoy, a resident of city’s Christianbasti area, joined ULFA (I) few months back and Indra worked as linkman of the outfit.
