DIMAPUR, Aus 9 (Newmai): The NSCN-IM has accused the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) of targeting “to interfere with the Nagas’ collective, long drawn quest for political justice”. The NSCN-IM also said that the ZUF “bears” history of violence.
“As is evidenced in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Imphal valley based militant UNLF, the supply of AK-47 rifles by the UNLF to the ZUF is to keep away the presence of the NSCN from Zeliangrong region under the guise of demanding a separate Zeliangrong state”, the NSCN-IM alleged.
The NSCN-IM then “strongly” condemned the Assam Rifles’ alleged diabolic policy that “encourages chaotic situation and bloodshed among the Naga brethren”. According to the NSCN-IM, the 8th Assam Rifles posted at Noney (Longmai) under the command of Colonel Saurab Charan “covered up the anti-social elements (ZUF activists) and gave free passage to the ZUF to carry out fratricidal killing among the Nagas, which is a coward act and a desperate move of the associates (AR & ZUF) who are apprehensive of the closing Indo-Naga political conflict that is awaiting an honorable end anytime now”.
The NSCN-IM also stated that, “since the Assam Rifles and the ZUF are giving each other logistic supports, the Indian authorities should award appropriate action against this kind of most contemptible joint operations between the Assam Rifles and the ZUF”.
According to the NSCN-IM, when the news of the Government of India and the Nagas “which is on the verge of signing the final settlement” is doing the round, the 8th Assam Rifles intensified its operation against the NSCN w.e.f July 28 to August 6, 2018 “so that their collaborated anti-social activists (ZUF) may carry out their violent activities while the guarded area is free from the competent Naga armies”. The NSCN-IM also alleged that, accordingly, on the intervening evening at 7:30 pm on August 7, 2018, the ZUF under the strategic cover of the Assam Rifles came at Khumji (Lukhumbi), Part-2 village and resorted to blank fire in order to scare the public. The NSCN-IM further alleged that, within a minute, they intruded into one Gaibung’s in-laws house and forcibly dragged him out and shot him to death in front of his helpless wife (Mrs Lungailiu Kamei).
The NSCN-IM stated that, the deceased (L) Gaibung Kamei who served the “nation” in the capacity of Razou Peyu was a son of Ningthou Kamei of Nungba sub-division, Zeilad Region of the NSCN-IM. “He served the Naga nation diligently ever since he enrolled in the Naga National Service on 25/03/2015. The GPRN soulfully condemns the gruesome murder of (L) Gaipung Kamei who sacrificed and withheld nothing to give liberty to his most beloved Naga nation & her citizens’ the freedom that has long been denied,” the NSCN-IM added.
The NSCN-IM then expressed its “heartfelt” condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that “the spirit of God comforts the near and dear ones who are left behind”.
