BOKAJAN, May 15: A slow loris, which strayed into human habitat, was rescued by officials of Bokajan Forest Range under East Forest Division from a tree in a residential compound here on Tuesday.
Local residents near Amrajan LP School, Sukhanjan noticed the endangered animal on a tree and immediately informed the forest officials. A team of forest officials immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the animal.
The slow loris is now kept at the office of Bokajan Forest Range. Assistant conservator of forest Jivon Ch. Rongpi said the efforts will be made to release the animal in its natural habitat.
Notably, the slow loris is in serious danger of extinction and the greatest threat to its survival is the illegal trade in wildlife.
