GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Cricket fans in Assam will finally be able to witness live Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as Guwahati will be hosting a couple of IPL matches at Barsapara stadium in 2020.
Announcing the big news to the media here on Wednesday, Rajasthan Royals co-owner Manoj Badale said that Barsapara Cricket Stadium has been selected as a venue by the RR for two of its matches scheduled next year.
Badale, who visited the Barsapara stadium on the day, also said that a cricket academy will be set up in Assam in association with Assam Cricket Association (ACA).
It may be mentioned that the franchise which usually plays its home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan, had earlier requested the BCCI to allow few of its matches to be played in Guwahati.
Notably, Assam cricketer Riyan Parag is also a part of the franchise.
