DALGAON, Dec 11: The Bhakatpara Bodo Sports Club emerged champion in the Maradona Football tournament held at Dalgaon Town playground on Saturday.
The tournament was organised by Dalgaon Sports Association which was inaugurated by Daogaon legislator Mazibur Rahman.
In the final match, Bhakatpara Bodo Sports Club defeated Masal Club by 5-4 goals. The refree took help of trie – breaker as the match ended a draw.
Best player award of the tournament was given to Sachin Bodo of Bhakatpara Bodo Sports Club.
Best player of the match was given to Dimanga Baglary and Aniruddha Bodo of Dalgaon Masal Club bagged the young player’s award.
Both the teams were given away trophies after the match along with prize money.
The Association paid tribute to former National Footballer, pensioner Abdul Jelil of Dalgaon who died on December 9. Notably, the Association also felicitated former footballer Rahan Bodo, Bhajan Bodo and Manabendra Saikia with traditional Assamese Gamucha. President Pradip Ghosh, Working President Kamala Saikia and Sports Secy Mubarak Hussain were also present in the event.
