HYDERABAD , March 4 (PTI):   As the busiest schedule of the badminton season is set to approach, World No. 6 PV Sindhu has expressed her desire of toppling Chinese Taipei’s deception specialist Tai Tzu Ying from the number one position. All England Badminton Championships and Commonwealth games are the two major tournaments set to take place in a month’s time and PV Sindhu will use these tournaments as stepping stones to fulfil her desire of reaching top spot in badminton.

“Preparation-wise everything is going on well. It is just one tournament at a time. Next is the All England Championships so I hope to do well,” the 22-year-old said. Sindhu, who had achieved a career-high global ranking of number 2, had last week said that her dream was to reach the top spot. “Now my dream is to become World No.1 and definitely it’s in progress. I want to see myself there,” said PV Sindhu reported PTI.

With the All England Championship set to begin on March 14, she is set to play Pornawee Chochuwong in the first round of the championship.

“The upcoming tournament is the All England Championships. So, I hope I do well. There are many tournaments, So I just hope that I give my best and play my game,” said the 22-year-old.

The bronze medalist from the 2014 Glasgow CWG wants to do well in the Gold Coast Games scheduled to begin on April 4. She had defeated Malaysia’ Tee Jing Yi in the bronze medal match and is looking forward to converting that bronze into a gold this time around.

“It’s not going to be easy. I definitely should work hard for it and I hope I just give my best. Because it’s not so easy. We have to play each and every match and give a 100 percent,” replied Sindhu when asked about CWG.
