SHILLONG, Sept 10: Shillong Lajong played out a 2-2 draw against Nangkiew Irat on Monday at the SSA Ground, Polo in the second leg of the Shillong Premier League.
Goals for Lajong came from Phrangki in the 5th minute and Mahesh in the 66th minute. Meanwhile, Roikhihbha and Khangmiki netted the goals for Nangkiew in the 35th and 43rd minute respectively.
The match was nothing similar to the first leg encounter when Lajong edged Nangkiew by a late penalty.
Lajong scored early after a lobbed ball inside the opponent’s box saw Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi control it well to slide it towards Phrangki who made no mistake in putting it past the keeper from close range. Nangkiew were counter-attacking and equalised in the 35th minute through Roikhihbha. Despite having a majority of the possession, Lajong were facing a lot of pressure from Nangkiews attack and the latter took the lead in the 43rd minute through Khangmiki, after the Reds failed to clear a cross inside the box.
It took some individual brilliance from Mahesh to find the equaliser for Lajong, as he dribbled past few defenders and found himself inside the box and hammered a low shot towards the far post in the 66th minute.
Shillong Lajong has 13 points from 7 games and will play their next match against Malki on September 14 at 5:30pm at the SSA Ground.
