DIPHU, Oct 22: United Brothers clinched the title of the Tribute Cup Football Championship after they defeated Taq Chapa FC 7-0 in their final encounter on Wednesday evening at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium here. The tournament was organised by Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA).
The United boys dominated right from the start of the game scoring four goals in the first half. Lalh Minghlu Vankan scored one while three goals were scored by Jerry Pulamte for the United.
The second half also witnessed United boys score three more goals through Jerry Pulamte. Though Chapa boys tried hard to score, they were foiled by United defenders. There were several attempts by Chapa boys, but they missed their targets.
The match finally ended with a score of 7-0 in favour of United Brothers.
The champion’s team was awarded with a trophy and cash prize which was given away by chief executive member (CEM), KAAC and president, KASA, Tuliram Ronghang. While the runners-up trophy and cash award were given away by member of Autonomous Council, Richard Tokbi.
In individual category, Upcoming Player Award was presented to goal keeper of KASA Football Coaching Centre, Saihonpo Rongphar, while Jerry Pulamte was adjudged Highest Scorer, Best Player Award went to Lalh Minghlu, Best Goalkeeper went to Sarlindok and Best Defender award went to Semson Tisso. They are all from United Brothers.
